Government Attorney Office ‘refutes’ to register case of ‘abduction’

KATHMANDU: The District Government Attorney Office denied to register a case related to the ‘abduction’ of Janata Samajbadi Party lawmaker Dr Surendra Yadav.

Leaders of the newly-formed party had reached the Attorney Office at Babarmahal to register the case against former Nepal Police IGP Sarbendra Khanal, and Nepal Communist Party lawmakers Mahesh Basnet and Kisan Shrestha.

It should be noted that the Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu, too, had refused to register the case on Sunday suggesting the leaders to file the case in Mahottari as the case happened there, and not in Kathmandu.

Party leaders, however, say that since Dr Yadav is in Kathmandu, there was no point going to Mahottari to register the case. Moreover, they said it was not possible for them to go to the district during lockdown.
