Indefinite curfew imposed in Rajbiraj and Bodebarsain of Saptari

SAPTARI: The District Administration Office has imposed an indefinite curfew in the Rajbiraj area of Saptari.

The administration had already imposed a curfew in Bodebarsain Municipality from 10:00 pm on Thursday, and a separate curfew order has now been enforced in Rajbiraj from 8:00 am on Friday.

Chief District Officer Shyam Krishna Thapa said the curfew was imposed in the Rajbiraj area until further notice following a decision of the District Security Committee.

According to the District Administration Office, the curfew area extends from Khando River in the east to Jamuni-Thalahi along the Postal Highway in the west, Basbitti Chowk on the Rupani Road in the north, and the Koshi West Main Canal in the south.

The order issued by Chief District Officer Thapa states that anyone found violating the curfew will face action in accordance with prevailing law.

The administration has urged the public to fully comply with the curfew order and cooperate in maintaining peace and security.

An indefinite curfew has already been in effect in Bodebarsain Municipality since 10:00 pm on Thursday, and the Nepal Army has been deployed to support the effective enforcement of the order.

The measures come amid rising tensions following the violent clash between two groups in Dewanganj, Sunsari, the impact of which has begun to spread to other districts of Madhesh Province. A protest was also held in Saptari on Thursday in connection with the same incident.
