KATHMANDU: Newly-appointed Minister for Communications and Information Technology Parbat Gurung assumed his office on Thursday.

Assuming the office at Singha Durbar, Gurung has expressed his commitment to make the media sector more systematic, quality and effective.

Stating that the role of the media is essential for implementing the government’s slogan of ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepalis’, Minister Gurung said that accurate, unbiased and fact-based information is needed to prevent and control the pandemic.

Minister Gurung said, ‘Society goes in the wrong direction without proper information,” while requesting to communicate positive and factual information.

Emphasizing that the role of all sectors is important for ending corruption, Minister Gurung expressed confidence that the positive role of the media sector would go a long way in controlling corruption.
