Nepal Bar Association demands action against advocate Dinesh Tripathi’s attacker



KATHMANDU: Nepal Bar Association has condemned the brutal assault on senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi at the Kathmandu District Court premises and has called for immediate action against the perpetrator.

The incident occurred on Wednesday when Advocate Tripathi was attacked while leaving the courtroom after representing a victim in a cooperative fraud case.

In a press release issued on Thursday, the Nepal Bar Association expressed grave concern over the attack and urged the government and relevant authorities to identify and prosecute those responsible.

The association also emphasized the need to ensure the safety and protection of legal practitioners in the country.

“The Nepal Bar Association draws the serious attention of the Government of Nepal and the concerned bodies to identify the persons involved in the brutal attack on senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi and bring them to justice immediately and take action to ensure the professional safety of legal practitioners,” read the statement issued by General Secretary Advocate Anjita Khanal.

Advocate Tripathi, who was representing the opposition in the high-profile Lamichhane cooperative fraud case, was physically assaulted outside the Kathmandu District Court in Babarmahal.

Witnesses reported that objectionable slogans were also raised during the attack.

The attack has prompted widespread condemnation, with the Nepal Bar Association stressing the need for authorities to take swift action to ensure such incidents do not undermine the safety and dignity of legal professionals.
