Rabi Lamichhane on Tundikhel Incident: People’s intervention has begun, political parties must reform

KATHMANDU: Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has asserted that political parties have no choice but to reform.

Speaking at the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting on Tuesday, Lamichhane emphasized that the public has started to voice their dissatisfaction and anger towards political parties and leaders, highlighting the urgent need for reform.

“The Tundikhel incident on Monday demonstrates that the people have begun to intervene,” said Lamichhane.

He also noted that the government, which holds a two-thirds majority, has no option but to perform effectively and deliver results.

On Monday, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli faced significant protests during the Gaura Festival program in Kathmandu.

A group of youths chanted slogans against PM Oli, who was attending the event with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba to extend festival greetings to the people of Kathmandu.

The protesters shouted slogans such as “KP… is a burden, who has brought pain and suffering,” and “…leave the country…!” Despite the organizers’ efforts to calm the situation, the crowd continued to protest and use offensive language at the festival venue.
