NA chair expresses concern over lack of progress in law-making

KATHMANDU: National Assembly Chair Narayan Prasad Dahal has expressed concern over the lack of legislative business in the upper house of parliament.

Speaking during an interaction program with local representatives and district officials on Thursday, Dahal stressed the need for the government to prioritize providing business to the National Assembly.

“The work of law-making has not met the expectations of the people,” said Dahal. “Even the laws that have been enacted are stuck in limbo.”

He acknowledged that the legislative process has been slow, with several critical laws yet to be formulated.

Dahal also highlighted a gap in coordination and communication across different levels of government, emphasizing the need for stronger dialogue between federal, provincial, and local bodies.

He suggested that current issues between the three tiers of government can be addressed effectively through discussions involving members of provincial assemblies and municipalities across the country.
