KATHMANDU: The main opposition party, Maoist Center, is holding a protest rally in Kathmandu on October 26 against the government’s actions and to highlight essential issues that require attention.

The meeting will take place at Exhibition Road, Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu.

Maoist Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” announced the decision during a joint meeting of the in-charges and chairs of the party’s Bagmati and special provincial coordination committees, along with representatives of people’s organizations, held at the party office in Parisdanda.

He emphasized that the central office of the party has resolved to conduct this mass meeting.

The Maoist Center has expressed concerns over the government’s insensitivity, irresponsibility, and lack of planning in disaster management.

The meeting aims to address issues such as the search for missing individuals, distribution of relief, treatment of the injured, construction of temporary housing, and to warn against conspiracies and corrupt practices undermining the good governance campaign initiated by the party-led government, he stated.

Additionally, the Maoist Center has also sought to draw serious attention to social justice issues and promote good governance, economic development, and prosperity.

The party also said it aims to counter extreme politicization and interference in public institutions, including the Nepal Electricity Authority and educational institutions, while advocating for measures to control rising market prices and black markets.
