Faction exiting Upendra Yadav-led JSP to remain in ruling coalition, affirms support for govt

KATHMANDU: The faction led by Ashok Rai, which has opted to split from the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), has declared its intention to remain part of the current ruling alliance.

Despite the division from the Upendra Yadav-led JSP, the faction pledges its support to the ruling coalition led by CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center).

Rajendra Shrestha, representing the faction, emphasized their commitment to the historic government under Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and affirmed continued support.

The faction asserts a majority, with claims that seven out of the 12 JSP lawmakers in the House of Representatives are aligned with them.

“With the backing of the majority lawmakers and in accordance with the law, we can register JSP as a new party,” stated Shrestha.
