Indian entrepreneurs urged to invest in Nepal’s hydro, tourism sector



KATHMANDU: Senior Vice-President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Chandra Prasad Dhakal, has urged the visiting Indian entrepreneurs to invest in Nepal’s hydropower and tourism infrastructure development.

Addressing an interaction between Nepalese industrialists and entrepreneurs and representatives of Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Odisha, in India Thursday, Dhakal called on the Indian entrepreneurs to invest in hydropower, information technology and tourism sectors of Nepal.

He said, “We are between the two big and emerging economies. India, China and the European Union have provided concession on customs tariff to Nepali products while the USA has provided partial concession in the US.”

Stating that Nepal and India share special historic, cultural and religious relations, he urged business community from India to tie up with the Nepali trade community as well. He urged the delegation to begin the cooperation of a next level and try to take the bilateral trade relations to a new height.

“Nepal and India have abundant possibilities for consolidating the business ties. And I hope today’s interaction will help take the level of mutual trade cooperation to a new height.”

He pressed an idea that the integration of India’s supply and value chain would be beneficial for both nations.

“Nepal’s private sector is ever eager to be part of economic recovery and prosperity of India. We wish to further strengthen our bilateral trade relations and cooperation.”
