NC leader Min Bishwakarma announces he will not contest upcoming elections

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Min Bishwakarma, aligned with the Sher Bahadur Deuba faction, has announced that he will not contest the upcoming House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5.

Bishwakarma made the announcement on social media on Monday, stating that he believes the new generation should lead politics and represent the people in Nepal’s evolving political landscape. “I have personally decided not to be a candidate in this election, as I believe this time the younger generation should take the lead in politics and public representation,” he said.

Despite stepping aside, Bishwakarma pledged his full support to the party’s official candidates. “I commit to supporting and assisting the official candidates, particularly those representing the Tree election symbol, with my mind, word, and action. I also extend my best wishes to all Nepali Congress candidates for victory,” he added.

He expressed satisfaction over efforts to unify the party’s leaders and workers in the election arena under a single symbol, calling it a positive sign in a politically divided party.
