RSP stages demonstration in Kathmandu and Pokhara over Chairman Rabi’s arrest
Supporters and members of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) held demonstrations in Kathmandu and Pokhara in response to the arrest of their Chairman, Rabi Lamichhane.
The demonstration took place at Matighar in Kathmandu and in front of the District Police Office Kaski on Saturday.
Protesters gathered in Chipledhunga, Pokhara, at 11 am and at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu at 1 pm, rallying under the slogan “Solidarity Against Political Revenge.” Lamichhane was arrested by police on Friday at the RSP office in Banasthali and subsequently transported to Pokhara.
Maoist leader Pun questions exemptions for Dhanraj and Rishikesh in cooperative fraud case
Deputy General Secretary of the Maoist Center, Barshman Pun has demanded the arrest of Nepali Congress Vice President Dhanraj Gurung and CPN-UML Member of Parliament Rishikesh Pokharel, who are implicated in defrauding cooperative savings.
Speaking at a program in Rolpa on Saturday, Pun emphasized that while Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has been arrested for similar allegations, Gurung and Pokharel must not be overlooked.
Pun warned that if the ruling party attempts to grant immunity to Dhanraj and Rishikesh, there would be public protests.
Maoist parties’ unity on the horizon: Prachanda
Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has stated that the unity of the Maoist parties will be finalized soon.
He made this commitment while addressing a program organized by the Maoist Center for the construction of a memorial building dedicated to the missing warrior Dandapani Neupane in Bharatpur-13, Chitwan.
Prachanda emphasized that the time has come for Maoists, who share a common ideological background but are currently divided, to unite and prepare for a socialist revolution.
Speaker Ghimire informed of Lamichhane’s arrest
Speaker Devraj Ghimire has been informed about the arrest of Member of the House of Representatives, Rabi Lamichhane.
District Police Office, Kaski furnished information to the Speaker in writing, according to Director General at Federation Parliament Secretariat, Padma Prasad Pandey.
Lamichhane, who was elected a HoR member from Chitwan constituency no 2, has been arrested for investigating into the charge of criminal offense after receiving permission from the District Court, Kaski.
Govt categorizes disaster-hit local levels in three groups for relief distribution
The government has categorized the disaster-hit local levels in three groups for better facilitation in distributing the monetary relief.
They are categorized as the most affected, affected, and moderately affected local levels. The nonstop rainfall occurred on September 27-28 had taken a huge toll on human life, property and physical infrastructures.
The most affected are 14 districts while total 71 local levels from 20 districts are later entitled for monetary relief. The 71 local levels from 20 districts affected by the landslides and flooding would be provided relief assistance as per the severity of damage.
Surya Thapa criticizes RSP’s protest, calls its ‘revenge drama’ to be a super flop
CPN-UML leader and former chair of the parliamentary probe committee on cooperative fraud, Surya Thapa, has commented on the ongoing protests surrounding Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane’s arrest.
Through a Facebook post, Thapa hinted at Lamichhane, stating that the “clean chit and acquittal” narrative has already flopped. He further claimed that a new drama titled “Revenge,” lacking in substance, is being staged and predicted it would be a “superflop.”
His post read: “The ‘clean chit and acquittal’ movie flopped everywhere within days, and now, a talentless new drama is being staged—‘Revenge!’ It’s heading toward a superflop—let’s wait and see.”
First season of hunting begins in Dhorpatan
The first season for licensed hunting of Naur, Jharal and Boar in the country’s only Dhorpatan hunting reserve has begun.
The Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation has given permission for hunting 12 Naur or Himalayan blue sheep, eight Jharal or Himalayan Tahr and 11 wild boars for this season.
An Australian citizen under the Nepal Travel Expedition Company has hunted a Naur to kick off the hunting to be carried out by four companies permitted to hunt in the reserve this season.
