CIAA files corruption case against Land Revenue Office official in Bhairahawa

KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a case at the Special Court against a civil servant posted at the Land Revenue Office in Bhairahawa, Rupandehi.

According to the CIAA, the case has been filed against Om Bahadur Khamcha, who was arrested earlier while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 200,000 from a service seeker.

The commission said Khamcha was caught red-handed while taking the bribe in exchange for processing land record updates and ownership transfer.

CIAA spokesperson Suresh Neupane stated that the evidence collected confirmed the bribery charge, leading the agency to file the case seeking punishment and fines equivalent to the amount involved.

The anti-graft body has demanded punishment in accordance with the prevailing law based on the amount of the bribe seized in the case.
