LALITPUR: Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Giriraj Mani Pokhrel, has said a revolutionary change with comprehensive discussion was needed for improvement in the education sector.

The traditional education system requires changes, the Minister reiterated at the ‘2nd International Quality Education Conference’ organized jointly by the Ministry, and the Rato Bangla Foundation.

“Educational houses produce diverse human resources including leaders of society as politicians, industrialists, teachers, businessmen, doctors and drivers. The teaching and learning to produce such human resources need to cater to values and practical knowledge,” Minister Pokhrel stressed.

He, however, admitted that quality in school education was not achieved as per the expectation. According to him, education could be made gradually accessible, maintaining quality.

The conference is being held under the theme of ‘strengthening of public schools: a present need’. The government has announced the decade from 2019 to 2029 as the time for strengthening public schools.

The Minister also shared that the National Education Policy 2019 would be approved soon. He hoped cooperation from the concerned sides to materialize the campaign of ‘one school one tree’ to preserve the environment.
