KATHMANDU: A staff member at Dhulikhel Hospital was assaulted following the deaths of a postpartum woman and her newborn who had been undergoing treatment in the hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU).
According to reports, relatives of the deceased allegedly attacked hospital employee Surya Prakash Shrestha after the deaths occurred.
The victim’s family has accused medical personnel of negligence, claiming that the deaths of the woman from Bethanchok Rural Municipality-1 and her baby resulted from lapses in treatment.
Shrestha sustained injuries in the incident and is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
The situation at the hospital remains tense following the assault, while further details regarding the incident and any official investigation have yet to be made public.
