Public holidays stretch to four consecutive days this week



KATHMANDU: A four-day public holiday period begins from today, as Bakra Eid and Republic Day fall close together, followed by the regular weekend holidays.

The government has announced a public holiday today on the occasion of the Islamic festival Bakra Eid-ul-Azha today.

The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a statement on Friday confirming that Thursday has been declared a public holiday for Bakra Eid.

According to Home Ministry spokesperson Ananda Kafle, the decision was made after the Muslim Commission informed that Bakra Eid falls today.

The ministry also extended best wishes to all Muslims on the occasion of Bakra Eid. Meanwhile, May 29 has already been declared a public holiday for Republic Day.

With Saturday and Sunday being weekly holidays, the country will observe four consecutive days of public holiday this week.
