KATHMANDU: Pushpa Kamal Dahal, coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), has objected to what he described as attempts by “those discarded by history” to spread confusion about the upcoming elections.
Speaking at a program organized by the NCP Dolakha–Kathmandu Contact Election Mobilization Committee in Kathmandu on Saturday, Dahal said that although the election date has already been fixed, certain individuals are spreading rumors that the polls will not take place.
He urged party cadres and supporters not to be misled by such rumors and to remain firmly engaged in election preparations.
Dahal stated that the activities of reactionary and regressive forces as the election date approaches hold no significance. He reiterated that elections are currently the most viable option and that the party has consistently taken a firm stance in favor of holding polls.
He said that if party members mobilize with full effort in the remaining days of the campaign, it would be possible for the NCP to emerge as the largest party in the country and create a new political environment.
Despite what he described as temporary turbulence, Dahal claimed that the public understands that such instability cannot last forever. He added that the NCP stands committed to safeguarding the nation during a challenging period and to steering the country toward balanced development by countering extremism.
