Two killed in truck–scooter collision in Ilam



MANGALBARE: Two people lost their lives in a road accident involving a truck and a scooter at Bhanjyang in Ilam Municipality–9 along the Mechi Highway on Saturday.

According to police, a truck heading from Jhapa toward Ilam and a scooter traveling in the opposite direction collided, resulting in the deaths of both individuals on the scooter.

The deceased have been identified as 26-year-old Debit Thapa Magar of Ilam Municipality–9, Golbasti, and 19-year-old Chewang Sherpa, originally from Maijogmai Rural Municipality but currently living in Ilam–7, Chokbazar.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Laxmi Bhandari informed that both victims were taken to the district hospital for treatment, where they were pronounced dead. The truck driver, a 25-year-old resident of Ilam–5, has been taken into police custody for investigation.
