SpaceX launches new rideshare mission

SAN DIEGO: U.S. private space company SpaceX launched a new rideshare mission to space on Friday.

The mission, codenamed Transporter-15, lifted off aboard a Falcon 9 rocket at 10:44 a.m. Pacific Time (18:44 GMT) from Vandenberg Space Force Base in the U.S. state of California, according to SpaceX.

Following stage separation, the booster’s first stage landed on the “Of Course I Still Love You” drone ship stationed in the Pacific Ocean, marking the 30th flight for the first stage booster, it said.

On board the mission were 140 payloads, including cubesats, microsats, hosted payloads, and orbital transfer vehicles carrying 13 of those payloads to be deployed at a later time, said the company.

All payloads were destined for sun-synchronous orbit, it added.

SpaceX said on X that its rideshare program has now delivered over 1,400 payloads to orbit, through dedicated rideshare missions and other shared-launch opportunities.
