Rs 138.48 billion taken abroad for foreign studies last fiscal year



KATHMANDU: Students leaving Nepal for foreign education took Rs 138.48 billion out of the country in the last fiscal year (2081/82), according to Nepal Rastra Bank.

The central bank’s report on the nation’s current economic and financial situation, released on Sunday, shows that the outflow was over Rs 12 billion higher than the previous year.

Similarly, Nepalis traveling abroad for personal visits spent Rs 85.24 billion during the same period.

While travel income increased by 7.7 percent to Rs 88.66 billion, Nepal still recorded a deficit of Rs 90.94 billion in net service income, the central bank noted.
