Nepal, Vietnam Vice Presidents meet to promote religious and cultural tourism

KATHMANDU: Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav and Vietnamese Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, who is on a three-day official visit to Nepal, held a delegation-level meeting in Kathmandu today.

The two leaders discussed the religious and cultural affinities between Nepal and Vietnam and emphasized the immense potential for promoting religious and cultural tourism between the two countries.

The meeting was described as friendly, warm, and cordial, according to Joint Secretary Prakash Adhikari of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Discussions also covered a range of bilateral, regional, and international issues, he added.

Both Vice Presidents acknowledged that Nepal–Vietnam relations are built on friendship, goodwill, and mutual respect for sovereignty, and reaffirmed their commitment to collaborating on common issues in international forums.

They agreed to strengthen high-level exchanges, including ministerial and official visits, and explored the possibility of enhancing air connectivity between the two nations.

Joint Secretary Adhikari also noted that Vietnam’s rapid economic growth presents an opportunity for Nepal to learn and collaborate, particularly in areas such as trade, investment, digital technology, and people-to-people relations.

This visit marks the first high-level visit from Vietnam to Nepal, and holds special significance as both countries celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties.

Vice President Xuan arrived in Nepal on Saturday, at the invitation of Vice President Yadav, and is scheduled to return to Vietnam on Monday concluding her visit.
