16 arrested with drugs in separate incidents across Nepal



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested 16 people with various types of drugs in separate incidents across the country.

According to the Central Police Newsroom, the arrests were made in Kathmandu, Morang, Jhapa, Dhanusha, Parsa, Kanchanpur, Nawalparasi West and Banke.

In Kathmandu, 37-year-old Binay Kumar Mandal, 38-year-old Manish Shahi and 38-year-old Pradeep Kumar Rai were arrested from Tenzing Chowk in Kapan, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-6, with about one gram of a substance suspected to be brown heroin.

In Morang, 31-year-old Bivek Rai was arrested from Kanepokhari Rural Municipality-7 with three grams and 20 milligrams of a substance suspected to be brown heroin.

In Jhapa, 30-year-old Bivek Limbu was arrested from Sunaulo Basti, Birtamod Municipality-8, with 130 milligrams of a similar substance. A 17-year-old boy was also arrested from Chatagachhi, Jhapa Rural Municipality-4, with five grams and 210 milligrams of the suspected substance.

Similarly, 23-year-old Arjun Rajbanshi was arrested from Purano Bhadrapur Road in Birtamod Municipality-3 with one gram and 380 milligrams of a substance suspected to be brown heroin. Police also arrested 28-year-old Prabhash Baske and 26-year-old Philip Mardy from Taghandubba School Tole, Jhapa Rural Municipality-4, with one gram and eight milligrams of the suspected substance.

In Dhanusha, 19-year-old Rajan Yadav and 26-year-old Bablu Paswan, alias Rambalak Paswan, were arrested from Shaheednagar Municipality-3 with 22 grams and 508 milligrams of a substance suspected to be brown heroin.

In Parsa, 65-year-old Ramdayal Mahara was arrested from Satbariya, Pokhariya Municipality-5, with approximately 510 grams of a substance suspected to be marijuana.

In Kanchanpur, 24-year-old Janak Khadka was arrested from Bhimdatta Municipality-4 with one gram and 840 milligrams of a substance suspected to be brown heroin.

In Nawalparasi West, 28-year-old Sunil BK and 31-year-old Dipesh BK were arrested from Chamantola, Palhinandan Rural Municipality-5, with 100 Spasmo tablets, 21 ampoules of diazepam, 22 ampoules of Phenergan and 22 ampoules of buprenorphine. Police said the medicines require a doctor’s prescription for purchase.

In Banke, 24-year-old Osis Khan was arrested from Duduwa Rural Municipality-2 with 900 milligrams of a substance suspected to be brown heroin. Police said further investigation into all the incidents is underway.
