A Division clubs stage sit-in outside ANFA Complex, accuse federation of failing to honor agreements

KATHMANDU: A Division football clubs staged a sit-in outside the ANFA Complex on Thursday, accusing the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) of failing to implement commitments made during earlier negotiations.

According to the clubs, ANFA has not moved forward on the agreements reached during the discussion held on November 2. The clubs say they had accepted ANFA’s proposal to move Nepali football ahead, but the federation itself has now backtracked.

Karma Chhiring Sherpa, President of Himalayan Sherpa Club, said the protest was organized because ANFA has shown no initiative in executing the agreement to conduct the National League from December this year and the A Division League in a home-and-away format from December 2026.

He added that the clubs are firm about enforcing the agreement and urged the Ministry of Youth and Sports to take the issue seriously.

Participants in the sit-in held placards reading “Don’t stretch a one-year football cycle into four years,” “Play football on the ground, not under pressure,” “Who is responsible for stopping A Division for 893 days?” and “Don’t ignore club investments.”

The clubs have warned ANFA that they will continue their pressure unless the commitments made earlier are implemented.
