UML leaders confirm youth program in Bara proceeding despite travel disruption

KATHMANDU: Politburo member Mahesh Basnet confirmed on Wednesday that the event organized by the National Youth Association of Nepal in Parwanipur, Bara, is proceeding as planned, despite travel disruptions.

Basnet, who was prevented from flying to Bara along with UML General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel, said that all leaders, including in-charge Rajiv Pahari and President Kshitij Thebe, are already at the venue and the program has started.

He added that a large number of leaders and activists from Maoist and Madhesi parties are preparing to join the UML during the event.

Basnet also urged young people to actively participate and warned that the UML youth wing will continue its struggle against the government’s “attitude.” “Even if we cannot attend personally, the program will definitely take place,” he said.
