KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel has warned that continued delays in enacting essential laws through Parliament could obstruct the realization of Nepal’s national aspirations.
Speaking during an interaction with journalists affiliated with the Parliamentary Affairs Journalists’ Society, President Paudel stressed the need for timely lawmaking and collaborative dialogue to avoid parliamentary deadlocks.
“If we want to maintain the people’s trust in Parliament, it must be made more participatory and responsive through meaningful discussions, consensus, and cooperation,” he said.
Acknowledging that Nepal’s democratic practices are still limited, President Paudel reaffirmed his belief that democracy remains the best political system.
He highlighted that Parliament is the primary platform for amplifying public voices and enacting vital legislation, and noted that the role of journalists is crucial in informing the public and holding elected representatives accountable.
“I expect that your dedication to parliamentary reporting will inspire lawmakers, parliamentary structures, and the process itself to function more effectively,” he said.
