Capital expenditure in Chitwan lags behind as fiscal year nears end

CHITWAN: Despite an allocation of over Rs 8.78 billion for the overall development of Chitwan, only 44.80 percent of the capital budget has been spent so far in the current fiscal year.

According to the Treasury and Accounts Controller Office, capital expenditure since the beginning of the fiscal year in Shrawan stands at Rs 3.96 billion. While several infrastructure and development projects are under construction, officials say capital expenditure typically increases towards the end of the fiscal year as payment requests are submitted.

In contrast, the district has made substantial progress in current expenditure, with 80.21 percent of the allocated Rs 13.67 billion being spent. The office reports that Rs 10.51 billion has been utilized under current expenditure so far.

Officials anticipate higher capital spending in the coming weeks as project payments begin to process before the fiscal year closes.
