MUSTANG: Goods-laden trucks have been diverted to the Korola border point in Mustang after the Bhotekoshi flash flood completely destroyed the Rasuwagadhi-Kerung checkpoint and damaged roads along the Nepal-China border in Rasuwa.
A total of 66 goods-laden trucks were recorded at the Armed Police Force, Nepal check post in Jomsom, Mustang, on Sunday evening.
Officials said the number of trucks carrying goods from China through the Korola checkpoint has increased following the disruption of the road network in Rasuwa.
The government has been operating the Korola customs point as an alternative border crossing. The customs office collected Rs 6.92 billion in revenue in the fiscal year 2082/83 BS.
The customs point collected Rs 290 million in revenue during the first month of the current fiscal year. Although the office has 18 sanctioned positions, only 12 officials are currently working there, according to Mustang Customs Office Chief Bidur Chudal.
