Nilam Dhungana appointed NRB’s Acting Governor

KATHMANDU: Deputy Governor Nilam Dhungana has been appointed as the Acting Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).

Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel appointed Dhungana in accordance with Section 27 of the Nepal Rastra Bank Act, 2058.

The Ministry of Finance has automatically assigned Deputy Governor Dhungana the responsibility of Acting Governor based on priority.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers is scheduled for this afternoon. While it is unlikely that the Council will appoint a new governor today, Nepal Rastra Bank has already sent a letter to the Ministry of Finance confirming Dhungana’s appointment as Acting Governor.

Maha Prasad Adhikari, the former governor, took leave on Friday after his five-year term.
