Bhaktapur declared Nepal’s latest fully immunized district

BHAKTAPUR: Bhaktapur district has been declared a fully immunized district after all eligible children completed their required vaccinations.

The District Public Health Office organized a programme in Madhyapur Thimi on Monday, where Bagmati Province Health Minister Kiran Thapa Magar officially declared Bhaktapur fully immunized and handed over the certification to the office.

Speaking at the event, Minister Thapa said the vaccination programme has not only helped save children’s lives but has also laid the foundation for building a healthier society.

He said the provincial government has allocated budgets to expand cardiology services at Bhaktapur Hospital, install a state-of-the-art MRI machine at Khwopa Hospital with an allocation of Rs 150 million, and develop Suryabinayak Municipal Hospital into a trauma centre.

Bagmati Province Culture and Tourism Minister Suresh Shrestha said Bhaktapur Hospital has been recognized as one of the leading hospitals in the country.

Secretary at the Bagmati Province Ministry of Health Dr. Sumitra Gautam said maintaining full immunization coverage remains a major responsibility, noting that vaccination has significantly contributed to reducing child mortality.

Public Health Office Bhaktapur Chief Anjana Khadka said a total of 10,743 children in the district have completed all required vaccinations. Among them, 5,050 children aged from birth to 16 months and 5,684 children aged between 16 and 23 months received the complete vaccination schedule.
