KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has confirmed that the ordinances presented by the government in the House of Representatives (HoR) will be approved.

The ordinance is set to be presented for decision at the House of Representatives and the National Assembly on Thursday.

Earlier, JSP Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav met with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

On Thursday, JSP Chairman Yadav met with President Deuba, General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwaprakash Sharma, and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak at the Federal Parliament Building in New Baneshwor.

He then proceeded to Baluwatar for a meeting with the Prime Minister.

Following his discussions with the Deuba and Prime Minister Oli, Yadav attended the parliamentary party meeting of JSP Nepal.

Regarding the meeting between JSP Chairman Yadav and Deuba, Congress Chief Whip Shyam Ghimire stated that the ordinance will be approved with the support of JSP Nepal.

If the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML hold the majority in the House of Representatives, the ruling parties will still need the backing of JSP Nepal, which has 3 MPs, to secure a majority in the National Assembly.

“JSP Nepal is still supporting the government and is positive about passing the ordinance,” Ghimire said. “There is no reason to oppose the ordinance.”
