Bail hearing for Rabi Lamichhane continues in Chitwan



CHITWAN: The second day of the detention hearing in the case against Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane, accused of embezzling funds from Sahara Chitwan Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited, is underway.

The hearing, held before Judge Dayaram Dhakal, will feature arguments from District Attorney Shambhu Kumar Basnet of Bara, Attorney Bholanath Niraula of Parsa, and District Attorney Dasharath Pangeni of Dhading on behalf of the Nepal government.

On Wednesday, District Attorney Rabi Neupane, Assistant Attorney Amrit Subedi, and Buddha Bahadur Thapa of the Chitwan Government Attorney’s Office had already presented their arguments.

For Lamichhane, a team of 10 advocates, including Senior Advocate Sushil Kumar Pant, Dharmaraj Acharya, Advocate Dr. Narayan Dutta Kandel, Chudamani Sapkota, Ramchandra Devkota, Subarna Sapkota, Gopilal Devkota, Kedarraj Panta, Deepakraj Timilsena, and Sanjay Gole, have registered to present their arguments.

After the completion of arguments on Wednesday, Lamichhane was placed in judicial custody at the District Police Office.

According to Amrit Bishwakarma, Information Officer of the District Court, the Government Attorney’s Office filed a case against 15 individuals, including Lamichhane, on Tuesday.

In addition to the individuals, the court has also registered a case against six organizations.
