Maoist Centre to push for end to parliamentary deadlock over visa scandal

KATHMANDU: The main opposition party, CPN (Maoist Centre), has decided to make maximum efforts to resolve the parliamentary deadlock that has persisted for the past two weeks over the visit visa controversy.

The decision was made during the party’s office-bearers’ meeting held on Thursday at the residence of party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ in Khumaltar.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, party spokesperson Agni Sapkota clarified that the visa issue is not about targeting any individual, but said a proper investigation is necessary.

He added that the party will engage in discussions with both opposition and ruling parties to find a way forward.

The meeting also decided that the leadership of the Young Communist League (YCL), the party’s youth wing, will be selected through mutual consensus.

Commenting on the Supreme Court’s recent order for further investigation into a conflict-era case filed against him, Sapkota said the party will issue a formal response only after reviewing the full text of the court’s directive. He also dismissed ongoing public claims about the case as baseless.
