PM Oli says Nepal-India ties strengthening, minor disputes to be resolved through dialogue

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that Nepal and India have a mutual understanding to address minor disputes through dialogue and communication.

Speaking at a press conference upon his return from Thailand at Tribhuvan International Airport, PM Oli said his meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was productive and held in a friendly atmosphere.

“We have agreed to strengthen Nepal-India relations in a broader and more comprehensive manner,” he said. “Even if minor disputes arise, we are committed to resolving them through mutual communication.”

PM Oli noted that the recent meeting with Modi was more extensive and cordial than their interaction last September. Discussions covered various areas of cooperation, including trade, investment, the Pancheshwar project, and irrigation in Dodhara-Chandani from the Mahakali River.

Referring to media speculation about strained ties during their last meeting, PM Oli clarified, “There was no issue as such in September. Our conversation was friendly then too.”
