One dies in forest fire in Makwanpur



KATHMANDU: A man died in a forest fire that broke out in a community forest in Bhimphedi Rural Municipality-1 of Makwanpur district on Thursday.

According to the District Police Office, the deceased has been identified as 49-year-old Akil Bahadur Pakhrin. He had gone to tend to a cowshed near the Bokedaha Community Forest when the incident occurred.

While on his way to the shed, Pakhrin reportedly slipped and fell off a cliff into the area affected by the fire. Deputy Superintendent of Police Shyamu Aryal confirmed that he was found burnt to death inside the forest.

The body has been sent to Hetauda Hospital for postmortem. Police said further investigation into the incident is underway.
