TikTok launches Family Pairing feature to boost youth safety in Nepal

KATHMANDU: TikTok has announced the rollout of its Family Pairing feature in Nepal, reinforcing its commitment to promoting safe and responsible online experiences for younger users.

The new feature allows parents and guardians to link their TikTok accounts with those of their teenagers, giving them access to a range of safety and privacy controls.

These tools aim to help families manage screen time, restrict inappropriate content, and guide healthy digital habits.

“This initiative is part of TikTok’s broader efforts to support digital wellbeing and ensure families can enjoy the platform in a safer, more informed way,” the company said in a press release. Parents can activate Family Pairing through the app’s “Settings and Privacy” menu.

Ferdous Mottakin, Head of Public Policy and Government Relations for South Asia at TikTok, stated, “At TikTok, the safety of our community is our highest priority, especially when it comes to young users. The launch of the Family Pairing feature in Nepal is part of our continued efforts to equip families with meaningful tools that encourage responsible digital habits.”
