Maoist Center holding Standing Committee meeting today

KATHMANDU: The Standing Committee meeting of the Maoist Centre is being held today (Saturday) at 11 a.m. at the party’s central office in Parisdanda, Koteshwor.

In today’s session, committee members will share their views on the political proposal presented by Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ during Friday’s meeting, according to the party secretariat.

On Friday, Dahal briefed the committee on the current political situation and internal dynamics of the party. According to Deputy General Secretary Haribol Gajurel, 10–15 minutes have been allotted to each leader to express their views on the agenda set by the chairman.

Tensions within the party have recently surfaced, particularly between Chairman Dahal and Deputy General Secretary Janardan Sharma. During the first day’s meeting, Dahal strongly criticized Sharma for airing internal matters publicly.

Addressing Sharma’s ongoing dissatisfaction with party leadership and calls for restructuring, Dahal instructed leaders not to take internal disputes outside the party in the future.

Political observers are closely watching how Sharma—who has openly raised concerns about party reconstruction, leadership transition, and declining internal democracy through a proposed special general convention—will position himself in today’s meeting.
