KATHMANDU: More than 2,000 cases of dengue have been reported across Nepal.
According to Dr. Gokarna Prasad Dahal, Chief of Vector Control Disease at the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division under the Health Ministry, 2,061 people in 73 districts have been infected.
Dr. Dahal warned that the number of dengue cases might increase, as predicted heavy rainfall could create favorable conditions for mosquito breeding.
Dengue cases have been reported in all districts except Mustang, Dolpa, Jumla, and Humla.
Kathmandu district has the highest number of cases, with 249 infections.
The Kathmandu Valley, including Bhaktapur and Lalitpur, has recorded a total of 316 cases, with 249 in Kathmandu, 38 in Bhaktapur, and 29 in Lalitpur.
Dr. Dahal urged the public to take precautions, as the spread of dengue is likely to increase further.
