Nepali Congress holding Central Working Committee meeting today

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Nepali Congress Central Working Committee is being held today.

The meeting is scheduled to take place at the party’s central office in Sanepa at 1:00 pm, according to Acting Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Dulal.

Office bearers and members of the Central Working Committee have been requested to attend the meeting. The agenda is expected to include discussions on the national gathering called by the rival faction, preparations for the party’s upcoming general convention, and the latest Supreme Court decision concerning the party.

The Nepali Congress is preparing for a Central Working Committee meeting that is likely to continue for at least two days, following the announcement by the establishment faction of a national gathering on August 11.

The establishment faction, which had been preparing to move ahead with the formation of a new party, is reported to have stepped back after the Supreme Court opened the way for a review of the party’s legitimacy.
