Wild elephant disrupts closing ceremony of Elephant Festival in Sauraha

KATHMANDU: A wild elephant caused chaos at the ongoing Elephant Festival in Sauraha, Chitwan, on Monday, scattering organizers and participants.

The elephant, identified as Makuna, entered the festival venue during the closing ceremony at Baghmara Community Forest.

Efforts are underway to drive the elephant away, but its repeated return has left both the organizers and guests on edge.

The Nepali Army has been deployed to manage the situation.

As a result of the disruption, the award distribution program of the festival has been postponed.
