KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel has said festivals like Lhosar promote mutual harmony, tolerance, and fraternity among all Nepalis, who live in a multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, and multi-cultural society.

“This celebration further strengthens our national unity,” President Paudel said on the occasion of Tamu Lhosar, a festival primarily celebrated by the Gurung community.

Tamu Lhosar, celebrated as the New Year among the Gurung community in Nepal’s upper hilly and mountainous regions, is increasingly being embraced by other communities as well.

The districts with significant Gurung populations celebrate the festival with great enthusiasm.

The President also acknowledged the significant contributions of the Gurung community to Nepal’s socio-economic development, as well as their efforts in preserving and promoting culture.

On this occasion, President Paudel wished for continued unity among all Nepalis, which he believes will lead to the further progress and prosperity of the nation.
