JC recommends names of Chief Returning Officers and Returning Officers for by-election

The Judicial Council (JC) has recommended the names of Chief Returning Officers and Returning Officers to oversee the by-election scheduled for December 1.

The Council has submitted its recommendations to the Election Commission for appointing Chief Returning Officers in 31 districts.

Additionally, District Court Kathmandu judge Ram Prasad Sharma has been proposed as a Justice of the newly established Consumer Court, with Genendra Raj Regmi recommended as a member.

ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League: US wins Nepal by 3 wickets

Nepal suffered a defeat to the United States in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 Series.

In the match played at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, Texas of the US, Nepal lost to the host US by three wickets.

The US completed the run target of 287 runs presented by Nepal in 49.4 overs at the loss of seven wickets.

Gold price down by Rs 400 per tola today

The price of gold, which reached a record high on Sunday, has declined today.

After increasing by Rs 1,400 per tola yesterday (Sunday), gold was priced at Rs 167,400, but it has now decreased by Rs 400 per tola to Rs 167,000.

According to the Nepal Gold and Silver Traders Federation, the price of gold was Rs 166,000 on Friday, marking a significant one-day increase.

Gagan Thapa calls for investigation into alleged involvement of Dhanraj Gurung in cooperative fraud case

Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Thapa has called for an investigation into party Vice-President Dhanraj Gurung, who is allegedly implicated in the Miteri Cooperative case in Lalitpur.

Speaking at a program organized by Nepal Rastra Bank employees in Kathmandu on Monday, Thapa urged the government to look into Gurung’s involvement.

“There have been discussions regarding NC Vice President Dhanraj Gurung, and the parliamentary committee on cooperatives has addressed this issue. A debate has taken place, and further investigation is necessary,” Thapa stated.

Ruling Nepali Congress MP Hridya Ram Thani raised concerns in a parliamentary committee meeting regarding the investigation into scandals associated with CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli.

In the meeting of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee held on Monday, Thani inquired with Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak about the progress of the investigation into the Giribandhu T-State land sale scandal in Jhapa, which was raised when the Congress was in the opposition in Jhapa, when the Congress was in opposition.

Supreme Court issues interim order on land donation for CPN-UML party office

The Supreme Court has issued a short-term interim order regarding the land donation of 10 ropanis and 14 annas in Kirtipur for the construction of the CPN-UML party office by businessman Min Bahadur Gurung.

On Monday, Justice Sunil Kumar Pokharel’s single bench issued the interim order against the land donation.

Advocate Gyan Bahadur Basnet filed a writ petition arguing that the land transfer from Gurung to the UML was illegal and sought to halt construction of the building.

Bomb threat on Air India flight causes tension at TIA

Security personnel are conducting a thorough search of an Air India flight following a bomb threat. Flight AI 216, bound for Delhi from Kathmandu, was carrying 158 passengers, including 55 Nepalese.

Security personnel are currently evacuating passengers who had already boarded the plane for inspection.

As a precaution, another aircraft from Himalayan Airlines, parked nearby, has also been moved away from the area.
