PM Oli urges precaution amid natural disasters



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) KP Oli has urged citizens to take precautionary measures in response to the natural disasters caused by persistent rainfall.

Currently in the USA for the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, PM Oli stressed the importance of collective efforts to address these challenges, noting that natural disasters affect everyone.

In a post on social media, he expressed sorrow over the loss of lives and property resulting from the incessant rains.

He highlighted reports of damage from floods and landslides across various regions and mentioned that he had spoken with Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak to gather information on the situation.

According to PM Oli, Minister Lekhak informed him that disaster rescue teams from the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force have been deployed for rescue and relief operations.

The Prime Minister expressed concern about delays in rescue efforts in some areas and urged Chief District Officers in the affected districts to act responsibly in leading these operations.

With meteorologists predicting further rainfall today, PM Oli called for cooperation from citizens with security personnel involved in rescue efforts. He also appealed for vigilance in areas prone to natural disasters.
