As Dashain concludes, Nepalis are eagerly anticipating the celebration of Tihar, a festival celebrated primarily with flowers and lights.

During Tihar, it is customary for sisters to adorn their brothers and sisters with garlands and Bhai Tika.

With Tihar approaching, there is a surge in demand for flowers, particularly Marigold, Makhamali (Globe Amaranth) and Godavari (Yellow Chrysanthemum).

Oli govt under fire: 8 scandals marking honeymoon period

Opposition parties, including the main opposition Maoist Centre, have concluded that the current government led by KP Sharma Oli has failed during its ‘honeymoon period.’

A joint meeting of opposition parties held on Friday at the call of former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also the Chairman of the Maoist Centre, reached the consensus that the Oli government is not performing adequately.

As of now, the ‘honeymoon period’ for Prime Minister Oli’s government—counted from the day he took the oath of office before President Ram Chandra Paudel—will culminate on October 22, marking the completion of 100 days since the government was formed.

CPN-UML holding Secretariat meeting today

The ruling CPN-UML is holding a meeting of its Secretariat today.

The meeting is scheduled to be held at the party’s central office in Chyasal at 5 pm.

While the agenda for the meeting has not been disclosed, Prime Minister KP Oli is expected to brief the party about the recent political developments, including the arrest of former Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane, who is also the Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

T20: Nepal defeats US in super over, wins T20 series 2-0

Nepal defeated the US in a super over in the second T20 match held under the bilateral series between the two countries.

With the win, Nepal has also won the series 2-0, before the third and last match is played.

In the match held at Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas, the visitors defeated the hosts in super over, after both the teams were tied at 170 runs at the end of 20 overs each.

Chinese delegation holds meeting with PM Oli

A delegation led by Chen Gang, a member of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and Secretary of Qinghai Province, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister KP Oli during his visit to Nepal.

The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Sunday morning.

The discussion focused on strengthening mutual relations between the two countries and their respective parties, Baluwatar sources said.

Kaski DAO issues prohibitory order in Pokhara

The District Administration Office (DAO) of Kaski has declared the area around Shahid Chowk in Pokhara a prohibited zone.

Chief District Officer Bharatmani Pandey issued the prohibitory order under sub-section 3(a) of Section 6 of the Local Administration Act, 2028 (with amendments) applicable to the area in Pokhara Metropolitan City.

The order forbids gatherings of more than five people and prohibits protest activities such as sit-ins, sieges, processions, demonstrations, and meetings.

RSP Chair Lamichhane taken to Kaski District Court

Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has been taken to the Kaski District Court following his arrest on charges of cooperative fraud.

Lamichhane, who was apprehended in Kathmandu on Friday, was transported to Pokhara before being brought to court by police to seek an extension of his remand.

Authorities are preparing to prosecute him on three charges, including defrauding the Suryadarshan Cooperative of Pokhara, organized crime, and money laundering.

Police fire tear gas at RSP supporters in Pokhara

Police fired tear gas and used water canon in Pokhara, Kaski, as tensions escalated between law enforcement and supporters of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

The clashes erupted when RSP supporters attempted to breach a designated prohibition zone.

Rabi Lamichhane, RSP Chairman recently arrested in a cooperative fraud case, was taken to the Kaski District Court in Pokhara on Sunday for a custody extension.

KP Oli is key architect of widespread corruption: Rabi

Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has accused Prime Minister KP Oli of being a key figure in the corruption that plagues the nation.

His remarks came as he appeared at the Kaski District Court following his arrest in a co-operative fraud case.

Lamichhane, who was taken to Pokhara, claimed that PM Oli has consistently caused suffering for the people and has framed him in a false case for the past year and a half.

Kaski District Court remands Rabi to six days in custody 

The Kaski District Court has granted permission to keep Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane in custody for six days.

Lamichhane was arrested in connection with an investigation into cooperative fraud and organized crime, and the court has approved the request to detain him for further investigation.

He was presented before the Kaski District Court on Sunday, where the hearing was conducted by Judge Nabaraj Dahal.

e-Challan system introduced for traffic rule violations in Kathmandu valley 

A new system of issuing e-challan (digital cheat) to drivers who violate traffic rules has started in Kathmandu Valley. The new system was inaugurated in a program held at the Valley Traffic Police Office on Sunday.

With the implementation of this system, drivers who receive fines can now pay the penalty amount digitally through mobile payment wallets by the end of the day, according to the traffic police.

In the first phase, the e-challan system will be enforced in the districts of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Lalitpur. Traffic police officers have been provided with special devices to issue the digital tickets.
