Dashain holidays conclude; govt offices reopen today
With the conclusion of the Bada Dashain public holidays, government offices have reopened today.
These offices have been closed since the day of Phulpati.
The government had declared a five-day holiday to celebrate Dashain.
All NA personnel in peacekeeping mission in Lebanon safe: NA
The Nepali Army (NA) has confirmed that all its personnel deployed in the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Lebanon are safe.
NA spokesperson Gaurav Kumar KC stated that the army is in regular contact with its security forces in Lebanon, and all members are unharmed.
However, sporadic incidents in the region have disrupted the daily operations of the mission, KC said.
NEPSE rises by 31.48 points following Dashain
Today marked the first trading session on the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) after the Dashain festival, with the NEPSE index closing at 2,699.66 points.
This reflects a significant increase of 31.48 points, or 1.17%, from the previous day’s close.
Prior to the festival break, the market had also experienced a slight rise of 4.85 points.
Kathmandu Valley records minimum temperature of 15°C
The temperature in the Kathmandu Valley has dropped to 15 degrees Celsius as of today (October 15).
According to the Weather Forecasting Division, the Valley recorded a minimum temperature of 15 degrees Celsius on Tuesday morning.
This marks a decrease from Monday’s minimum of 17.2 degrees Celsius, indicating a drop of more than 2 degrees Celsius within 24 hours.
Remittance increases by 15.5%, exports decrease by 5.1%
In the two months of the current fiscal year 2024/25 ending mid-September, remittance inflows increased by 15.5%, while exports of goods and services from Nepal declined by 5.1%, according to the ‘Current Macroeconomic and Financial Situation’ report released by the Nepal Rastra Bank.
This inverse relationship between remittance and exports is largely due to the increased inflow of remittances during major festivals like Dashain and Tihar, where higher consumer spending typically occurs.
Additionally, part of the goods previously exported abroad was consumed domestically during this period.
Over 1,000 tourists en route to Lukla stuck in Manthali for two days
Over 1,000 foreign tourists en route to Lukla of Solukhumbu are stuck in Manthali for the past two days as an adverse weather disrupted the air flights to Lukla Airport.
It is said their number totals 1,300. They arrived here by flight and road.
Now some of them have started heading towards Phaplu, the district headquarters of Solukhumbu while some have taken booked helicopter flights to set out for Surke.
