KANCHANPUR: The commission formed to resolve land disputes after the expansion of the Shuklaphanta National Park held a discussion with the displaced people.

The discussion was held in a bid to rehabilitate the displaced ones during the Park expansion.

Newly appointed chairman of the commission, Jaya Nand Paneru, discussed with the displaced people, reaching Dhakka camp on Monday.

He garnered views from the members of the displaced people’s struggle committee on how their problems could be resolved.

The commission earlier led by Thakur Prasad Sharma had identified 1,480 houses as the displaced ones with the expansion of the Park.

Chairman Paneru informed that the reports of the pervious officials would be studied well and government suggested for further action within three months.

“Study of previous reports is going on. After we finalize study, we identify the displaced ones and prepare a report for rehabilitation and compensation to their lands,” he added.

Meanwhile, secretary of the park displaced struggle committee, Govinda Nepali, said the report submitted by then chair Thakur Prasad Sharma was faulty.
