Tragic road accidents claim two lives in Jhapa



JHAPA: In separate incidents in Shivasatakshi municipality and Kamal rural municipality of Jhapa, two individuals lost their lives in road accidents, with at least eight others sustaining injuries on Saturday.

Motorbike rider Anup Dhakal, 23, of Damak-9, tragically lost his life when a car (Ba 14 Cha 6603) traveling from west to east collided with his motorbike (Me 10 Pa 7212) from the opposite direction in Shivasatakshi-10.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Khagendra Prasad Rijal of Jhapa Police informed that Dhakal succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Birta City Hospital Birtamod. Pillion rider Pradeep Basnet, 21, of Urlabari-1, Morang, also suffered injuries in the unfortunate accident.

In the same incident, car driver Anil Kumar Shah, 50, of Birtamod-3, Jaya Prakash Shah, 53, of Birtamod-4, Ranjan Shah, 44, and Lalit Shah, 53, of Birtamod-3 sustained injuries.

Another road mishap occurred in Jhapa on Saturday, resulting in the death of Raghunath Bhattarai, 70, of Kankai-3.

The accident unfolded when a motorbike (Me 6 Pa 3152), heading east from west, collided with another motorbike (Province 1-01-016 Pa 8992) in the same direction.

Subsequently, the first motorbike hit a scooter (Province 1-01-016 Pa 7140) approaching from the opposite direction.

Chandra Prasad Bhattarai, 52, and Raghunath Bhattarai, 70, of Kankai-5 were injured in the accident, with Raghunath succumbing to critical injuries while being transported to the hospital, according to DSP Rijal.
