Rabi Lamichhane being taken to court today for detention extension

KATHMANDU: The police are seeking permission from the District Court, Kaski, today to extend the detention of Rabi Lamichhane, who is currently in custody at the District Police Office, Kaski, in connection with the investigation into the Suryadarshan Cooperative fraud in Pokhara.

The last 4-day extension of his detention expired on Wednesday evening, prompting his appearance in court today for a further extension.

Along with Lamichhane, the former Managing Director of Gorkha Media, ex-DIG Chhabilal Joshi, and business partners Ram Bahadur Khanal and Leela Pachai, who were also arrested in connection with the same case, will be presented to the court by the Kaski police.

Lamichhane is under investigation for charges including cooperative fraud, organized crime, and money laundering.

Meanwhile, he has also been taken to Rupandehi (Butwal), Kathmandu, Chitwan, and Parsa (Birgunj), where he has been recorded for various cooperative fraud charges.
