HoR polls: EC completes voter education program

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has completed a nationwide voter education program aimed at informing citizens about the importance of elections, the voting process, and reducing invalid votes.

The program was conducted simultaneously in all 6,743 wards across the country. According to the Commission’s approved schedule, the voter education campaign concluded on Sunday in all 753 local levels. Voter education volunteers were mobilized in each ward to carry out the program.

Election Commissioner Dr. Janaki Kumari Tuladhar said the campaign was successfully completed thanks to dedicated volunteers who reached voters at their doorsteps and engaged directly with communities. She especially acknowledged the contribution of female community health volunteers, stating that the targeted outreach had been effective.

Female community health volunteers have been entrusted with voter education responsibilities since the 2022 general election, and they continued in the same role this year.

The Commission stated that volunteers provided information on the importance of voting and the electoral process using sample ballot papers during door-to-door visits and community interactions.

Previously designated local-level contact persons were assigned as monitors for the voter education program and were given orientation for effective implementation. Volunteers are expected to submit detailed reports to the Commission upon completion of the campaign.
