Galeshwor Temple receives over Rs 400,000 in offerings on Maha Shivaratri

MYAGDI: The Galeshwor Temple situated in Beni Municipality-9 garnered an impressive sum of over Rs 400,000 in offerings during the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivaratri.

Following the festivities on Maha Shivaratri, the monetary offerings made by pilgrims at the temple were meticulously tallied this morning, revealing a total collection of Rs 429,388.

Gaumaya Pun, Treasurer of Galeshwor Shivalaya Area Development Trust, confirmed the amount.

Approximately 50,000 devotees hailing from Myagdi, Parbat, Baglung, Kaski, Chitwan, Tanahu, and Kathmandu flocked to the Galeshwor Temple to mark the occasion of Maha Shivaratri.

Often referred to as the Pashupatinath of Nepal’s western region, the temple holds significant cultural and religious importance.

Legend has it that individuals who bathe in the sacred waters of the Kaligandaki River and offer prayers at the Galeshwor Temple during Shivaratri have their wishes fulfilled.

Additionally, a Shivaratri fair was organized, drawing participation from various sectors including District Police, Community Police, volunteers from schools, clubs, and mothers’ groups.

Office Secretary of Galeshwor Shivalaya Area Development Trust, Ram Baniya, disclosed that the temple has amassed a total of Rs 3.79 million in offerings since the commencement of the current fiscal year.
