Former President Donald Trump has won the 2024 presidential election, securing his second term in the White House, according to Fox News.
In a stunning outcome, Trump triumphed over Vice President Kamala Harris, making him the 47th President of the United States.
His victory comes after a remarkable and tumultuous election cycle, marked by unprecedented events and two assassination attempts on his life.
President Paudel congratulates Donald Trump on election victory
President Ram Chandra Paudel has congratulated Donald Trump on being re-elected as President of the United States for a second term. Poudel extended his congratulations and best wishes via the social media platform X.
In his message, President Paudel expressed optimism that Nepal-U.S. relations would become even stronger during Trump’s tenure.
He wrote, “Wishing you all success for your second term as the President of the United States!” He added, “I am confident that Nepal-U.S. relations will further be strengthened during your tenure.”
Dozens of Koshi cooperatives misuse over one billion rupees from depositors
More than a dozen cooperatives in Koshi Province, have allegedly misused over 1 billion rupees belonging to depositors.
According to the Koshi Province Cooperative Registrar’s Office, nine cooperatives within the province’s regulatory area have misappropriated approximately 886 million rupees. Investigations are still underway into into additional cooperatives.
Hari Bahadur Khatri, the head of the Koshi Province Cooperative Registrar’s Office, explained that the office began investigations after receiving complaints about financial misuse in various cooperatives.
TikTok gets legal recognition in Nepal
TikTok has been officially listed in Nepal for the first time, gaining legal recognition as a registered social network.
According to Gajendra Kumar Thakur, Joint Secretary and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, TikTok was officially listed on Tuesday.
Thakur stated that TikTok has now received legal legitimacy after being registered by the Ministry of Communications.
Local-level by-elections set for Dec 1 to fill 44 vacant seats
By-elections will be held on December 1 to fill vacant local-level positions across the country.
A total of 44 positions remain vacant due to various reasons, including two district coordination committee chiefs, two rural municipality chairpersons, four vice-chairpersons, one mayor, one deputy mayor, and 34 ward chairpersons.
According to the Election Commission (EC), the by-elections will be conducted for a variety of posts.
Three arrested with 5.7 kg of gold at TIA
Three individuals have been arrested at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) for possessing 5.7 kg of gold.
A Chinese national and two Myanmar citizens, who arrived in Kathmandu from Sharjah on an Air Arabia flight, were taken into custody on Tuesday evening, according to the Office of the Armed Police Force Nepal at TIA.
An investigation is currently underway, and the suspects are being held at the TIA Customs Office.
Road accidents claim 24 lives in Bagmati Province during Dashain and Tihar
As many as 24 individuals lost their lives in road accidents during the festive season in Bagmati Province, excluding the three districts of the Kathmandu Valley.
From October 3 — the day of Ghatasthapana of Dashain festival, and the morning of November 5 — there were 230 road accidents reported in districts outside Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Lalitpur.
According to Superintendent of Police Nareshraj Subedi from the Nepal Police Highway Safety and Traffic Management Office in Ramnagar, 628 people sustained injuries in these incidents.
