KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has asked private institutional schools to ensure a minimum of 10 percent scholarship for students up to grade 10.

The Education Department of KMC issued a notice on Thursday, emphasizing that all private institutional schools within the metropolis must ensure the equitable distribution of scholarships.

As of June 5, as many as 473 institutional schools in the metropolis have furnished the requisite scholarship details following repeated appeals from the KMC.

The metropolis has also disclosed the list of schools committed to providing such scholarships.

Any schools yet to submit scholarship details are instructed to comply within three days, failing which they risk being designated as non-operational for the academic session of 2081, with admissions suspended.

Furthermore, the KMC has warned that private schools failing to meet the 10 percent scholarship requirement will face legal repercussions.
